Therapeutic Gardens
Designed for Health Centres (Hospitals, Psychiatries, Rehab Centres, Youth Centres).
Objective: Speed-up the process of healing, create healthy environments & generate a space for meditation and active movement.
Our proposition is a combination of features and stations that create a garden where to spend a good time, relax, become creative and experience nature.
The features include:
1. TREES: Trees are elements of security and slowness, they create a canopy and a sense of belonging, and most important: they store carbon, reduce temperatures in summer, and stop the winds, making the garden to a climate-resilient space.
2. THERAPEUTIC PLANTS: The garden becomes a place to experience difference scents and where to find your calmness again using biogenic volatile organic compounds (BVOCs) of specific plants that actively reduce pain, depression, cortisol levels & stress.
3. VEGETABLES & BERRIES: Edible plants are integrated to the garden as a way to actively involve the patient in the meditative act of farming, the caring act of observing plants and paying attention to their development and needs, and finally the rewarding act of harvesting and enjoying the tastes of nature.
4. SENSORIAL STATIONS: Specially interesting are additional elements such as Water Bodies (fountains, ponds and streams), Barefoot Paths (with stones, woods or mosses), or Fitness Elements to train muscles, rebuild the connection to our bodies and developing our sensorial senses and perceptions of external stimulus.
